The head of the Applied Sciences Department is following up the final work on the emergency staircase in the laboratories and classrooms building

Professor Dr. Raid Abdul Wahab Ismail, Head of the Applied Sciences Department, personally followed up the final stages of the construction of an emergency staircase for the laboratories and classrooms building. During the visit, the Head of the Department reviewed all details and plans related to the exit points on each floor. He emphasized that these exits should be located in places that allow our students, faculty members, and staff to easily and smoothly evacuate in the event of any emergency, God forbid. Accompanying him on this tour of the student building floors was the department's assistant for administrative affairs, Professor Dr. Oday Mohsen Naif, to oversee the progress of the work and ensure the implementation of the Head of the Department's directives and observations




Applied Chemistry held a workshop on filling the annual assessment form

As part of the distinguished scientific activities organized by the Department of Applied Chemistry, a workshop was held in the late Professor Abdul Mutalib Ibrahim Sheikh Hall in the department building. The workshop focused on how to fill out the annual evaluation form, under the direct supervision of the Head of the Applied Chemistry Department, Prof. Khalida Farhan Suhail, with follow-up from the department coordinator, Dr. Thamer Adnan Abdullah. The workshop was led by the Director of the Quality and University Performance Division, Prof. Duha Saadi Ahmed, alongside the instructor in the Applied Chemistry Department, Assoc. Prof. Dhafar Saber Khalaf. A select group of faculty members and department staff attended the workshop, where all steps for completing the annual form were explained in detail, along with practical guidelines to ensure accuracy and ease in providing the required information. This workshop was a great opportunity for exchanging experiences and raising questions and inquiries, contributing to the creation of an effective educational environment that enhances the level of information and interaction among participants.




The Head of the Department of Applied Sciences congratulates the faculty and staff of the department on the occasion of the university ranking first locally in the Times Higher Education ranking

Professor Raed Abdul Wahab Ismail, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, extended his congratulations to the faculty and staff of the department on the occasion of the university achieving first place locally in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The results of the "THE World University Rankings 2025" were announced, where the University of Technology achieved a remarkable accomplishment by securing first place locally among Iraqi universities for the second consecutive year, out of a total of 18 universities ranked this year. Additionally, the University of Technology was ranked in the (1001 – 1200) category among 2,092 global universities included in the ranking. The "World University Rankings" are based on a set of various academic criteria, including teaching, scientific research, and the international reputation of universities. This ranking is considered one of the most prestigious and reliable globally. The Head of the Department urged the department's faculty to double their efforts in scientific research to enhance our beloved university's global ranking even further.

Biotechnology organized a workshop on 'The Use of the Professor System within the Bologna System Framework. The Biotechnology Department organized a workshop on how to use the Professor System within the Bologna System framework. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Intisar Hussein Ali, Head of the Biotechnology Department, Dr. Maryam Dhari Kamel, Rapporteur of the Biotechnology Department, and Assistant Lecturer Bassam Shaker Mahmoud. The workshop covered several key topics, including: Explaining the mechanism for creating a teacher account and how to add absences and record formative assessment grades. Clarifying students' rights and responsibilities, in addition to the process of registering for academic courses. After the workshop, the challenges faced by teachers in using the system were discussed, and quick and appropriate solutions were provided according to the guidelines and regulations. This discussion contributed to significant scientific benefits and improvements.




The Department of Applied Sciences Council awards the President of the University of Technology a certificate of appreciation

The Presidency and the Council of the Department of Applied Sciences at the University of Technological , represented by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Raid Abd Al-Wahab Ismail, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the President of the University of Technology , Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, in recognition and gratitude for his continuous support to the researchers, professors, faculty, and staff of the department and the university. This initiative came during the President's attendance at the opening of some of the department's laboratories after their renovation.For his part, the President affirmed his continuous support for all the scientific and engineering departments of the university, as well as for its professors, faculty members, staff, and students, in a way that serves the educational process. He wished everyone continued success and prosperity in service of our beloved Iraq and our distinguished university.
