    Scientific seminar on Artificial Intelligence for the Branch of Mathematics and Computer Applications

    Under the guidance of the respectable President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hassan Mohammed Al-Ghaban, and supervised by the respectable Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Raed Abdul Wahab Ismail, and the respectable Head of the Mathematics and Computer Applications Branch, Prof. Dr. Manal Naji, the Department of Applied Sciences/Mathematics and Computer Applications Branch held a scientific seminar on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, titled: "The Role of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education." The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Muaid Abdul Razzak Al-Obaidi, a specialist in Artificial Intelligence Engineering from Taylor's University, Malaysia. The seminar was held at the University of Technology, in the conference hall of the Computer Engineering Department. The seminar was attended by the esteemed President of the University of Technology, the respectable Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, as well as the heads of the Computer Engineering and Applied Sciences Departments, several department heads, faculty members, staff, research centre members, and a group of faculty members from Al-Nahrain University, Al-Mustansiriya University, and the University of Babylon, along with several postgraduate students. Important and contemporary topics were discussed in the field of generative artificial intelligence and the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, including the advantages and disadvantages of these developments. At the end of the seminar, many ideas were discussed, and several recommendations were made to meet the needs of higher education in Iraq in this field. The President of the University of Technology honoured the lecturer with a shield from the Department of Applied Sciences, and the Head of the Department of Applied Sciences also awarded him a certificate of appreciation.

    Based on the authorities granted to us, and with reference to the approval of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, it has been decided that the Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications will conduct a scientific seminar titled "The Role of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education" at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the Conference Hall of the Computer Engineering Department. The seminar will be delivered by Dr. Mohammed Muaid Abdul Razaq Al-Obaidi from Taylor's University, Malaysia.

    Honoring the head of the Applied Sciences Department with the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Award for best scientific production for 2024 Head of the Applied Sciences Department, Professor Dr. Raed Abdul Wahab Ismail, was honored by the General Secretariat of the Arab Union in collaboration with the Arab Universities Union during the ceremony for the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Award for Best Scientific Production of the year 2024. The General Secretariat of the Arab Union, in cooperation with the Arab Universities Union, organized the award ceremony for the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University for Best Scientific Production in its first edition at the General Secretariat headquarters on June 5, 2024, during a special meeting to announce the award results, which were allocated to the Arab Universities Union by Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University in Saudi Arabia for the best scientific production, sponsored by the Secretary-General of the Arab union, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Dr. Amr Salama, the President of Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University, Dr. Issa Al Ansari, and members of the Board of Trustees and representatives of the winning universities. Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of the award allocated by Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University to the Arab Universities Union for the best scientific production, aiming to enhance the role of universities in scientific production, promote research collaboration, and revive the spirit of scientific competition among universities, appreciating and honoring outstanding work and encouraging universities to engage in scientific research and disseminate the benefits of winning works to instill a culture of thinking, creativity, and innovation in Arab universities. Dr. Amro Salama, the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, announced the names of the winners of the Best Scientific Production Award in scientific research: The first research was presented by the Technological University, Iraq. The second research was presented by Qassim University, Saudi Arabia. Notably, the co-researchers in the winning research are Professor Dr. Raed Abdul Wahab Ismail, Professor Dr. Muthafr Ali Mohammed, and Dr. Ali Jabr Adly.
