The Branch of Medical and Industrial materials Science was established in 1992. The branch represents one of the distinguished and unique competencies in our country. Material Science is an interactive competence of major engineering sciences. It is the science that leads to extensive knowledge about various materials and study the relation between materials structures, features, and applications. Material Science is considered one of the essential sciences in the developed industrial countries. It is a renewed science due to the continuous research to discover new materials with new features.

The Branch of Applied Physics was established in 1976. The branch was interested in teaching physics in all engineering departments at the University of Technology. In its early inception, the branch was giving a master's degree in Applied Physics. The branch's goal is to prepare scientific staff specialized in applied physics to serve the scientific career in our country because it involves different fields such as energy, health, petrol, industry, and education in scientific and research institutions. The branch has made great efforts to solve problems in different fields through pioneering research and research conducted by faculty members and postgraduate students. Also, they attempted to develop the capabilities of the branch's administrative members, workers, and technicians.
